Chocolate-Dipped Stuffed Dates
Chocolate-Dipped Stuffed Dates, a simple make-ahead sweet for relaxed hosting. Rich, satisfying, and quietly indulgent .
This recipe appears in Secrets of a Cairo Kitchen, as part of a complete Egyptian hosting menu.
This is one of those deceptively simple treats that feels far more special than the effort involved. Soft Medjool dates are split and filled with creamy peanut butter, then dipped in dark chocolate and finished with a tiny sprinkle of sea salt. The result is rich, satisfying, and quietly indulgent — perfect at the end of a shared meal.
They can be made the day before, take minutes to assemble, and require no oven, no fuss, and no last-minute attention. Served on a small plate alongside coffee or mint tea, they’re exactly the kind of sweet that suits relaxed, generous hosting.
Ingredients
- Medjool dates
- Smooth peanut butter
- Dark chocolate (70% works beautifully)
- Sea salt flakes
(Quantities are intentionally flexible — make as many as you like.)
Method
- Prepare the dates
Slice each date lengthways and remove the stone, keeping the date intact. - Fill
Spoon a small amount of peanut butter into the centre of each date and gently close. - Melt the chocolate
Melt the dark chocolate gently over a bain-marie or in short bursts in the microwave. - Dip
Dip each stuffed date into the melted chocolate, coating it fully or halfway, as you prefer. - Finish
Place on baking parchment and sprinkle lightly with sea salt while the chocolate is still warm. - Set
Leave to set at room temperature or refrigerate briefly. Once set, store in an airtight container.
Planning Notes
- Can be made a day ahead
- Keeps well at room temperature or chilled
- No baking, no stress, no last-minute work
- Naturally rich and satisfying — a little goes a long way
To Serve
